Where Does Ultimate Resilience Come From? 8.12.24 Weekly Resilience Unlimited Newsletter

Wil Owens and I, from Trekk Unlimited, Certified 30 members of U.S. Army Unit Ministry Teams (not all shown in picture) in Anchorage, Alaska. They are now equipped to train this highly valuable Pathfinder Resilience Tool--Meaning Map to Soldiers so that they can find unlimited resilience. Soldiers can 1) find their best path to their Ideal Future Self, 2) best path on their worst day, and with that, 3) find a baseline best path for their every day.

Resilient Quote. "Every man has built a [false] roof over his head to shield himself at the point of tension. At this point of tension the person is not in a place of consistency in his system, and the [false] roof is built as a protection against the blows of the real world, both internal and external. It is like the great shelters built upon some mountain passes to protect vehicles from the avalanches of rock and stone which periodically tumble down the mountain." - Francis Schaeffer

Resilience in the News. How Does Beauty in Art Lift the Roof, Show Us Reality, and Make Us Wiser and Stronger? https://www.psypost.org/new-psychology-research-links-art-to-a-more-meaningful-life/ Goodness, Truth, and Beauty are the ancient Three Transcedentals that point to something beyond us. Through beauty in art, we can become more self-aware, reflective, and resilient.

Reslient Point from Resilience Unlimited, How to Always Find Your Best Path. The end-state of both the book and the Certified training is designing your own personal Pathfinder Resilience Tool--Meaning Map. The map is to close the gaps in your life that cause anxiety, depression, or worse, suicidal ideations.

  • What I notice in the training or presentation to thousands of people: when they start to engage their personal map to fill it out, it is like lifting off the roof of false self-protection, as Francis Schaeffer describes. People do not want to know how insecure they are. However, after they fill out their map to close the meaning gaps, there is great joy to see the realization of who they are and execute an exciting plan to move out toward their Ideal Future Self. Another example of the PRT-Meaning Map is like crafting a Genogram, that is a picture of what three generations of family history looks like. One time when I provided a Genogram experience with a client in psychotherapy, he looked at it on the white board and said, "That's *#@!%^ up." He had the roof lifted off his false sense of security and from there he was able to craft a realistic plan for a new healthy future self.

Resilient Vocabulary Word. Metaphysical. From Merriam-Webster: "It is reality beyond the senses." What does this mean? Right now I am typing on my lap top computer. This is physical touch of my fingers to keys. Metaphysical is the non-physical touch of ideas like philosphy, theology, or every day values, and many different kinds of thoughts in themselves. It could be speculation about the origin of the universe. It is what you believe. In my research of the most important examples of resilience, it's not just mental toughness or grit that gets someone to their ideal future self. It is their beliefs about themselves, their world, and/or God. This is where ultimate resilience is found. Where is your ultimate resilience beyond yourself?
